My purpose is to share music joyfully and creatively with others.
Hi, I'm Aviva Enoch--teacher and sole proprietor of MusicAviva.
I accept students of all ages, levels and abilities, who are drawn to music and have a desire to learn.
It is my aim as a teacher to kindle that initial spark, and to fan the flames into joyful, confident, musical
expression at all levels of instruction. My students have gone on to participate in school band and chorus, as well as regional choirs and instrumental ensembles. That first spark, and the confident musicianship that grows from these humble beginnings is truly amazing to witness!
I'm active as a pianist--and have accompanied choirs, dance classes, singers and instrumentalists. My current activities include working as a pianist and Music Coordinator at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Hillsborough, and serving as president of the Chapel Hill Music Teachers Association.
I received my Bachelor of Music Degree in piano at the University of KS (1979) and my Master of Music Degree in piano at Emporia State University (1981), where I worked as a graduate assistant, teaching Suzuki piano.
Whether on the radio, leading a circle dance, teaching little fingers to play the keys, or playing piano for worship-- my purpose is to share music joyfully and creatively with others.
During the 1980's and early 1990's, I worked in public radio. I have worked at three public radio stations, including more than a decade as a music host and arts reporter at WUNC-FM. I produced some arts reports that aired nationally on NPR.
I've also served on the national board of the Early Childhood Music and Movement Association, where I organized a national convention
Early childhood music and movement is a special joy and interest for me. I have taught classes for young children and parents at the ArtsCenter in Carrboro, the Durham Arts Council, University Presbyterian Preschool and Kindergarten, Juhlin Kindergarten, and my own private Musikgarten studio. I have my early childhood credentials I & II from Durham Tech. I've worked as a kindergarten assistant at Emerson Waldorf School, and a lead 3-5 year old teacher at Our Playhouse Preschool in Chapel Hill.
